A surburban kid with a knack for words, making sadboy rap anthems since 2018. Engineered by fellow kid rapper Drest, and spitting bars on beats by CapsCtrl and Melbourne independant heavyweight Charlie Threads.
With brutally honest and sometimes spiteful lyrics inspired by the pop-punk music everyone grows up with, Sage has earned the support of Triple J favourites such as NYNE and Dexter Seamus, making a dent in the next wave of Australian hip-hop, while putting his own spin on the genre.
This standout artist has earned praise on an internation network as well, with Johnathan Ramsay of RIDE MUSIC summing up the young icon's sound in one sentence:
"It’s sad rap, but it’s sad rap with a shoulder-shrugging coolness."
Simultaneous with his first major platform debut in 2018, JailBird Sage launched a side project in an independent label for young underground artists - Moonlit Audio. This commitment to the scene and to bringing fellow artists into the spotlight alongside him display Sage’s attitude and seriousness about the music he makes and surrounds himself with. He has since evolved the label into not only a stepping stone for artists to major distribution, but also branching out into artist management as well. Moonlit Audio currently boasts 6 active artists operating under its banner, all of which Sage works with directly.
